Key Field Manual to 115 species of Conifers found the United States and Canada.
This full color book contains keys and illustrations for 115 conifers in the US and Canada. It contains an illustrated glossary of over 100 terms. The keys rely mostly on cone, leaf, bud, and bark characteristics. This book can be used by botanists, foresters, naturalists, and plant lovers as a field manual and self-teacher. It is written in layman’s terms to help even children to identify. When it was first published, Stephen F. Austin State University Library helped me find reviews. I was given several top reviewers addresses. This book was reviewed by everyone, including Choice, Library Journal, Midwest Journal, Taxon (The International Journal of Plant Taxonomy) and The Arnold Arboretum of Harvard U. In 2012, the book was also nominated for an award by the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries. In 2015 it was awarded the Donocan Stewart Correll Memorial Award by the Native Plant Soceity of Texas. The softcover ISBN is 978-0-934115-03-2 and the hardcover is 978-0-934115-05-6.

I’m following up on my earlier email to make sure you received my letter announcing the nomination of your book. I also realized that I had two email address on file, so am sending this message to both. I’m also copying the address I found for your text author, James Van Kley.
In the letter, I requested that the review copies be received by February 2nd. As that is just a week away, I will suspend that deadline, but please send the review copies as soon as possible.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Best wishes,

This manual covers the herbaceous (non-woody) vascular (not mosses or liverworts) Eudicotyledons (largest of flowering plant groups) along with the herbaceous Magnoliids & waterlilies (Nymphaeids) of the Pineywoods of east Texas & west Louisiana. Filling a major gap in earlier treatments, it marks the first time that there has been comprehensive coverage of the entire flora for this region in a local manual.
