Commissioned by the American Loggers Council in April 2026, this original painting by Bruce Cunningham was created for presentation to President Trump on Arbor Day, April 24, 2026. Rich in symbolism, the artwork blends American leadership, forestry, and the natural beauty of the chestnut tree into one unified composition.
At the center of the piece stands a tree shown in two contrasting halves: one side full of life and green spring growth, the other deciduous winter growth, suggesting both the struggle and renewal of America’s forests. Beneath the tree, visible roots emphasize strength, heritage, and deep connection to the land. Above, the White House represents national leadership and the enduring importance of stewardship over the nation’s natural resources.
In the foreground are profiles of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, placing the presentation in a historical and presidential context.
